“Short animated films in 2018 are definitely alive, well, and as advanced as technology currently allows; but everything has to start somewhere. Trick Studio Presents An Award Winning Documentary About Female Film Pioneer Lotte Reiniger - BROADWAY WORLD LOS ANGELES

“But I watched – and was enthralled –  with your wonderful, charming, romantic film. Lotte would have loved it, too! Her gravelly voice bought back our weekly lunches and evening dinners in her tiny studio apartment together over many cigarettes and Martinis! What a charming, romantic tribute… the silhouette animation was so brilliant I couldn’t tell where yours and Lotte’s changed in some places, [such as] the white and black dancing silhouettes towards the end? And I loved the musical accompaniment.” - Paul Gelder, a dear old friend of Lotte Reiniger

"Lotte Reiniger is a big influence and was an amazing, pioneering filmmaker! This documentary looks like a must see."  Nora Twomey, Director of THE BREADWINNER

"Among the many films being screened at the film festival this year, a handful caught my eye.... 'Lotte that Silhouette Girl' is a short film about Lotte Reiniger, who ignited the world of animation with shadows, light, and a pair of magical scissors. Shot in a clever style that incorporates silhouettes, “Lotte” features narration by Lotte Reiniger, who incidentally invented the multiplane camera and created the first animated feature (before Disney took over the animation world). The film is co-directed by Elizabeth Beech and Carla Patullo, aka White Widow, a composer and musician whose striking style is a cross between Kate Bush and Fiona Apple, although her delicate melodies for “Lotte” are perfect for the film’s feel and genre.  NEWPORT BEACH INDY
